The Sweetbriar Vineyard and Winery is owned and operated by Mike and Tamara Mackenthun. The couple retired from the Air Force to Mountain Home, Idaho and built their retirement home. During a trip to California Adventure at Disneyland, they talked to the Mondavi representative (at the time) about vineyards and wine making. They became convinced, after much research, they could build a small vineyard and winery of their own.
They have 240 Vignoles, 180 Cabernet Franc, 100 Lemberger and Riesling and 80 Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Gris vines.
The winery consists of a wine storage/aging room, a tasting area and wine production area.
Our address is: 12150 East Highway 20 Mountain Home, Idaho 83647. The winery is located 7 miles northeast of Mountain Home, Idaho on US 20. Take exit 95 off of I-84 and head to Fairfield/Sun Valley.
